A comedy about two girls who work as waitresses in a diner, and who are united by a common dream – to open a successful business. Of course, as soon as they find the money for this. The prickly, life-conscious Max works two jobs only to make ends meet. One of these jobs is a night shift at a Williamsburg retro diner. The sophisticated Caroline is a former princess with a trust fund, unlucky enough to become a waitress, willy-nilly.
At first, Max perceives Caroline as another inept, which Max will have to cover, but to her surprise, Caroline was not a dummy. When Caroline finds out that Max is baking amazing cupcakes, she immediately sees this as a potential source of profit, but the business needs money. In the meantime, the girls are putting off tips, they will have to work in the diner with Oleg, an overly loving chef; Earl, a 75-year-old hard pepper who works at the checkout; and Han Lee, the new owner of the diner. Two girls with no money live in an expensive city, work together, and may have found the secret ingredient to success.
